Answer:

I am guessing that you have an iphone 6 or 6Plus and want to use an app that requires iOS 13 or above.

If I am correct then you will need a new phone as the 6 and 6Plus cannot go beyond 12.5.5

Answer:

iCloud from iPhone

How do I delete photos on my phone but still access them on iCloud?

Answer:

Hello CaptainLima78,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you want to delete photos on your iPhone, but have them remain on iCloud. iCloud isn't a backup service, but rather a sync service. iCloud acts as the coordinating point to share photos between you iPhone and other devices. If you add, delete, edit, etc a photo on your iPhone, those changes will pass to iCloud and in turn to your computer, other phones or devices that are also connected to iCloud. So, by deleting a photo on your iPhone, it will also be deleted from iCloud.

The article you came from, Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support, is the best place to start for information on using iCloud Photos.

Best regards.

disable passcode options on new device?

I have a new iPad mini I got my child and I want to disable the passcode for the Home Screen but I have disable passcode options?

Answer:

Hi Struggle_is_real.

It sounds like maybe the iPad may have been set up using Screen Time restrictions. If that is the case, you'll find directions for turning that off here:

Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If content restriction are what is keeping those passcode settings from appearing, turning them off should bring those options back.

Cheers.

Answer:

Hello Struggle_is_real and welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears you are having some difficulty setting up an iPad to be used without a passcode.

Set a passcode on iPad

At the end of that article, you'll find steps for turning the passcode off.

Cheers.

Answer:

I don't have those options. Only passcode mention I see is accessibility ➡️ Guided Access? The option you posted is not something I have.

Problem with apple maps

Why does my Apple Maps keep crashing after I type the letter "f"

Answer:

Hi shandon181,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that when you attempt to type within Maps, the app unexpectedly quits, correct?

If so, check out the steps you can take to isolate this behavior further here: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won't open

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Answer:

I tried all 4 of those on my ios15 iPhone 11 and the issue still exists when I touch certain letters. Voice to text works without crashing the stock Maps app. Back to google maps for now.

How can I get a refund?

Pls I urgently need help.My phone was infected with a virus so I downloaded some anti virus apps to use for free. I came across one with the name MOBILE SECURITY which requested for a free trial but I should key in my master card details which I did but still couldn't use it after keying my details

I never had the intention of purchasing the app so since I couldn't use it I decided to let go only to realize this morning that they took $49.99 from my account.Looking at our economy that is a huge chunk of money.

I immediately requested for a refund through the Apple platform but has since not receive any reply from them.PLS WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY MONEY REFUNDED.I do not need the Mobile Security app.All I want is my money back. The money they took has greatly affected my budget for the coming month.

Answer:

Did you go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com/?s=6 to request a refund? If agreed to you should see this in your purchases list there. Refunds can take up to 30 days to appear.

As to the original situation, what made you think you had a virus (which is extremely unlikely)? If it was a message of some sort saying it had detected a virus, these are always scams and should be ignored. No-one can detect remotely that you have a virus, and they are trying to scam you into buying unneccesary software. You don't need any anti-virus apps.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address/ID in a public forum, even in images - it's an invitation to spam and a security risk - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.

A refund can take up to 30 days, depending on the method used to make the purchase. Please see https://support.apple.com/HT210904

I have macOS High Sierra, version 10.13.6 in my iMac 2011. Is it possible to update it? When I go to software update I can't. Seems that my computer is too old.

Answer:

You are correct. It looks like this iMac is unable to run any version of macOS newer than 10.13.6 High Sierra. You will not be able to update it to any newer versions of macOS.

Should I wait to update my iPhone XS Max …

I'd like to update my iPad 6th gen and iPhone XS Max to iOS 15. Are there any reported issues with these older devices using iOS 15? Is it best to wait?

Answer:

I too generally wait "a while" for new major releases to "stabilize."

After a week with little of substance reported here, my Xs Max was updated to 15.0 w/o any issues noted.

Ditto w/ a several-year-old iPad Pro.

Answer:

I'm glad to hear it. I've been waiting also, although I thought I'd wait for 15.1 or whatever is next.

Answer:

Indeed.

I think I waited 'til x.3 or x.4 w/ iOS 14.

error message when logging into iCloud on…

I continue to get prompted to log into my iCloud/apple ID account on my Mac Book but after inputing my password I get one of two messages: "An unknown error occurred" or "did you forget your password?" I just changed my password a few days prior because I was prompted to do so based on a "data breach" and have yet to login to iCloud/apple ID on my Mac Book ever since (I have successfully logged in on all three of my other devices: iPhone, iPad pro, and Apple Watch). I've attempted to update the system but the "apple servers cannot be reached at this time" or "internet connection has been lost". These issues are only occurring on my Mac Book and no other device!

Update: I logged out of my apple ID on my Mac Book after changing my password AGAIN without successfully logging in AGAIN and now I can't log back in at all!!!! I need access to important documents that are in my iCloud!

Hi,

I have two questions about this situation:

1- Do I need to cancel my subscription or does it get cancelled automatically?

2- What happens to my data already in iCloud, does it get lost or is it transferred automatically to the new iCloud?

Thanks

Answer:

Hello TheBekko,

We'd love to assist you with your subscription. The iCloud storage changes over to the Family storage. The individual subscription will automatically cancel when you switch over to the Family subscription. More information on the process can be found here: Change your subscription from Apple

Best regards

I can add from personal experience that the changeover indeed "works" exactly as advertised.

I tried disable access to notification for Apple Music, but it's still there. I don't see any reason leave it there, because it's accessible already in control center = disturbing. I rebooted my iPhone after every step I tried.

Device: 13 Pro Max

Activation lock

Activation locked

Answer:

You are encountering this feature or something similar to it:

'Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch' is a security feature that's designed to prevent anyone else from using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, if it's ever lost or stolen. To learn more click here --> http://support.apple.com/HT201365

For an individual to remove an activation lock absolutely requires the information for the account that applied the lock. Click on this link to learn 'How to remove Activation Lock' --> https://support.apple.com/HT201441

If you do not know the required information and you are not the original owner, get the owner of the account to remove the lock or return the device for a refund or recycle it. The device is otherwise useless to you. If the owner is unknown and has not provided contact information as a message showing in the login screen, there is no way to contact the owner unless the person who gave you the device knows them.

Here are additional resources if you are the original owner, or know the owner to be able to provide assistance in doing any of the following things:

Help with a lost Apple ID or password:

• "If you forgot your Apple ID" [this is likely an email address you are using or used in the past] click here --> https://support.apple.com/HT201354

Reset device:

Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Do this online at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does provide details as to what is acceptable proof. Prior to this new online service Apple typically required the original receipt issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller and documented provenance (so typically it would be the original owner who does this, or a descendant with legal proof of ownership).
