Hi all,

Need to know how to obtain a transcript of my call to Apple as Apple claim all calls are recorded.


My MacBook Pro model failed for the 3rd time and when I spoke with the online advisor he told me that I needed to take it into the store and if it's a hardware issue then the unit will be replaced.


The store established it's a hardware issue but said there was nothing in the notes to suggest that a replacement was needed.


When I called the Apple support from the store I was told that no promise was made to replace.


I now would like a transcript of the conversation before where the advisor clearly told that the unit will be replaced.


My MBP is less than 2 years has full Apple+ coverage and I'm fed up of the continuing lies deceit an misinformation from Apple.


Short of recording all calls I make to Apple I really don't like the inference of I being called a liar.


I hope the community can help.

the alternative is that what ever promised made by one apple representative may then be refuted by another.

If we understand, there are times you turn the Ring/Silent switch to off and you do not see the "Silent Mode is off". 


Is it when this happens you don't hear incoming calls? If you turn the switch back on, then off again, do you see the message drop down from the top of the screen showing it's off?


The article with your post, If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPadhad some good suggestions. Were you able to try them? If so, did they make a difference, even for a short period of time?

Third party compatible apps for such old devices are few and far between, now, in 2021.

Simply and bluntly put, a 4th gen iPad is too old and obsolete now.

There are PLENTY of less expensive, newer, older iPad models that can run the latest, current versions of iPadOS.

If you need OR ONLY able to purchase older, less expensive iPad models, look at older IPads from 2014 and later.


All of these older model iPads below, CAN run the latest iPadOS versions and the up and coming iPadOS 15.

If you decide to go down the path of purchasing used, secondhand Apple devices, here is how to avoid purchasing an Apple iOS/iPadOS device with user activation lock, in the future.



If you purchase any iPad, or any Apple iOS device, for that matter, used/second hand, online, or even in-person, make sure this iPad does NOT have user activation lock and has been properly reset for sale.

A properly reset for sale iPad should initially power up to an animated, multi-language "Welcome" screen.

DO NOT take the iPad seller's word that this iPad is user activation lock free!

We have seen plenty of used iOS device purchasers get scammed.

User Activation Lock can never be bypasss, circumvented or worked around IF there is no correct previous/original user information to be able to do so.

Apple doesn't get involved with ANY user activation locked, used/second-hand sold devices, either.


So, buyer beware.


If purchasing a used device in-person, power the iPad ON

If the iPad DOES NOT display the initial animated, multi-language "Welcome" screen, then pass on purchasing this iPad.

If the iPad powers up to any other screen, then forget purchasing this iPad.

You cannot trust that the seller actually has the correct needed info to properly reset the iPad back to factory settings right then and there before the actual purchase and exchange of money for the iPad, in question.

Pass on the device!


If you are purchasing this used iPad online ask the seller to provide multiple images, either online or be sent to you via email, showing this animated, multi-language "Welcome" screen of the interested in purchasing iPad model.

Even better, ask for a short video be sent to you showing this animated, multi-language "Welcome" screen, in action and in its entirety, posted to the online ad or emailed to you.

If the online iPad seller refuses any of these requests, pass on the iPad. DO NOT buy!

i have a 2017 15 macbook pro with 4 tb 3 ports

i have several different external drives. of varying speeds. all of which will not go above 950mbs. i should be seeing upwards of 2,000+ and i notice in my system report it says no thunderbolt devices connected even when i have all ports filled with external drives. ive confirmed speeds of drives and speeds of drives with the enclosures with no luck. confirmed proper cables being used. any idea as to why my transfer speeds are limited? or why they dont appear connected via thunderbolt?


please help im a videographer and i transfer several terabytes every couple weeks and absolutely need to see faster speeds.

Are the enclosures thunderbolt enclosures?

iCloud upload very slow and/or stuck

I am trying to upload a 1.45 Gb video to iCloud, so I can share it via the iCloud link. It has been trying to upload for over 3 hours now, and the progess bar gives me the idea that the upload has been stuck since (it is the only file currently trying to be uploaded to iCloud)


The upload is being done via my iPhone 11 Pro, and connected to a stable 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi, that has over 250 Mbps Down speed and upload speed varies bewteen 15 to 20 Mbps. Phone is also charging the whole time (even though it is at 100% battery as well).


The most curious thing to me is that, whenver I click on the copy iCloud link I get a note from the iPhone saying "You are attempting to share a large file which may take a while. To save cellular data, you may want to wait and share this item when your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and power", even though it has been connected to Wi-Fi and power this whole time. About a month ago I shared a few videos the same way, and around this size (the were lower quality, but larger vids) and the upload was almost instant with the same setup and internet. The only change is that before I was on the lateste iOS14 and now I am on iOS15.
