iPhone lattest update - Zoom Size
The last IOS update for my iPhone gave the option of increasing the size of the display for the icons and the e-mail functions --- I wanted to change back to the original size -- but after going to Settings - Accessibility - Zoom that only changed the size of my e-mail -- how do I go back to the original display size for both my icons and my e-mails?
Answer:
Hey there CoveWay,
It sounds like you're looking to change the size for your display and/or icons. If that's the case, use the steps below to help accomplish this:
Go to Settings> Accessibility > Display & Text Size.
For additional details and options: Adjust the display and text size on iPhone
You can also use the Zoom setting to zoom in or out on specific items. You'll see those details and options under:
Go to Settings> Accessibility > Zoom, then turn on Zoom.
We hope this helps.
Take care!

Black screen when woke up
This is the screen on my Apple Watch 6 when I woke up. I've followed all the support steps so far. I can't pair it again because I don't have the "i" number. It will not forcibly turn off. My only other option is to try to delete it from my phone.
Advice? Anyone else experienced this??
Answer:
Hello, txrungirl.
We'd advise that you start by following the steps in this article: If your Apple Watch won't charge or it won't turn on. It explains: "If your watch requires charging, a red lightning bolt appears on the screen. (You might need to click the side button to see the watch face.) When your watch is charging, the red lightning bolt changes to a green lightning bolt. If your screen is blank or you see the charging cable icon and a red lightning bolt on the screen, charge your watch for up to 30 minutes."

That would depend on the age of your Mac. From Apple () menu > About This Mac, and on the product description line, note the content in parenthesis. Compare that to the hardware requirements for Catalina in How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support to see if it is possible. There is a link to the Catalina full installer in the Mac App Store on that page.

Can I still get an airport card
Hi guys I am wondering if I can still get an airport card I have a Mac g3 that I got second hand it would be super handy if I could get one cheap in Australia as I'm only 14
Answer:
Hi,
Which exact Mac G3 model is it?
https://everymac.com/systems/apple/index-apple-specs-applespec.html
You may want to ask a parent to search for AirPort cards on online auction sites like eBay.
Alternatively, instead of using an internal AirPort card, it may be possible to connect a Wi-Fi range extender with Ethernet bridge capabilities (similar to Edimax EW-7438RPn Mini), or a dedicated wireless Ethernet bridge, to the Ethernet port of the computer. This should also allow the use of somewhat higher speeds and modern wireless security standards.
Answer:
I agree with Jan's suggestion of a bridge/range extender. The only Airport cards that worked in iMac G3s were 1Gen card that could do no better than wireless "b" speeds and would likely prove frustrating given the demands and complexity of today's internet.
Answer:
Thanks as far as the g3 it is a 2001 model and which model air port card should I get as there are multiple models
Answer:
Thank you for the information.
Do you mean an iMac G3 or an iBook G3? Please have another look at the detailed specifications (link above) in order to determine which exact model it is.
Anyway, the 2001 models used an AirPort card. As Allan Jones mentioned, that is an 802.11b card. Later, AirPort Extreme (802.11g) cards were introduced, but these are not compatible with 2001 Macs.
Especially for a desktop model like the iMac G3, an external Wi-Fi range extender with an Ethernet port (operating in a bridge, client, or media adapter mode), or a dedicated wireless Ethernet bridge, would be a better solution. One could also use an appropriate mode of a travel router (TP-Link TL-WR902AC is just one example).

Weird fake SMS full screen notification?
I saw somebody (user:
Lalibertyd) had the same problem in 2017. I got this strange "SMS notification" that didn't end up in my messages app and I usually only get banner notifications for SMSs. I got it while looking at Instagram stories (but all IG stories and ads have the name of the user at the top and a react/reply/swipe thing at the bottom, so this was not on someone's story or an IG ad. I'm wondering if the "why did I receive this message" text is an iOS thing or an Instagram thing… I recognise the text and font and stuff like I've seen it on genuine notifications before but I can't remember if it's from Instagram or iOS or something else. I just took a screenshot and pressed dismiss. Confused

Answer:
Salutations robynmckechnie,
If you're only encountering a message like this when using a third-party app, then it may have something to do with the app itself. Should it be an SMS message, which are delivered through your wireless carrier's servers, we encourage you reach out to them for additional assistance with the blocking or reporting the sender.
Per Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams
"To report a suspicious SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, take a screenshot of the message and email the screenshot to reportphishing@apple.com."
Thanks.
Answer:
Hi, as I said this was not an SMS it was a fake notification that popped up on my screen. Once again, the notification was not about a real SMS. I did not receive any message, just the notification. The fake SMS was not pretending to be from Apple. I only got this once so don't know if it always happens in the Instagram app or if it could happen regardless. What I want to know is is it typical for iOS notifications to include "why am I seeing this message" at the bottom of the screen? I've seen it before but can't recall if it was from an iOS notification or something else. Trying to see if they're imitating iOS or not.
Answer:
Actually, it is an SMS... it's a special kind of SMS message commonly called a 'flash SMS' message.
They are not legal except under limits circumstances in most countries.
Answer:
Hi robynmckechnie,
It is normal to see that message. You may want to also want to reach out to your carrier to block those unwanted SMS Messages as well.
Cheers!
Answer:
Ah that's useful information. Makes me feel better then since it's just someone sending an illegal text rather than some sort of virus on my phone. I can't find any info on whether or not flash SMSs are legal in South Africa but supposedly we have "very robust regulations" so I'd expect it to be illegal

MRT running a lot in Mac log
I updated my Mac yesterday and since then I have noticed MRT trying to run a lot but is like it can't actually start. It spawns and then exits saying it ran for zero seconds. Is this something to be concerned about? I do have Norton/Symantec antivirus, could this be causing it?
Answer:
No AV product is necessary as MacOS has all the security you need built in. The same goes for any fixer, helper, optimizer and etc. They often interrupt OS operations and cause more problems than any of the hype will ever deliver.
Uninstall Norton per the developers instructions and retest.
Answer:
Dump Norton.
Answer:
So I deleted Norton but MRT is still running a lot. Anyone know what the problem is/how to fix it
Answer:
How is your Mac running? If performance is as expected, don't sweat an entry in a log.

You're overthinking this. MRT is designed to scan for malware so I'd think it's just doing its job.

iCloud Calendar 404
In the settings of my iCloud calendar I enabled "Show Birthdays" and I get the message "It may take a moment to sync.." But when I look in the browser console I see this:
javascript-packed.js:811
(I changed the values of the query requests to 'abcd' just in case there was some identifiable info)
It seems like it can't reach my birthday calendar even though I have iCloud back ups on and iCloud sync for Contacts and Calendar.
I've waited for a few days and nothing has happened. My other events sync fine and contacts sync fine (i tested with a test contact and test event) and all over services work fine.

Using Flickr as a screensaver - slideshow…
Hello
I have enjoyed using Flickr as a screensaver on my AppleTV. Unforunately it will no longer let use Flickr slideshows as a screensaver.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and know a fix?
Regards
Ted S
Answer:
The developers at Flickr haven't updated their app for Apple TV since the original v1.0.0 release in 2015. Keeping all features working with today's version of their content system and today's version tvOS doesn't appear to be a priority for them.
Now when I try to create a new screen saver from within the Flickr app, then I get a message "functionality not available at this time".

Lost contacts after deleting an email acc…
I recently deleted an old account that is no longer in use as the phone kept asking me to enter the password for this account while the phone is in use. As a result of this I noticed that I have lost several of my contacts those were saved, I am not able to add this account back on my phone as the ID no longer exists. I would like to get the lost contacts back. Even though I can save them individually from the WhatsApp history, I'm afraid several other contacts may also have been lost. Hence, I am looking for a fool proof solution for this concern. Can someone please suggest a fix? Thank you.
Answer:
If the account no longer exists, then the information that had been synced with it is now gone.

You were apparently syncing those contacts with that email account.
